Crelan announced a new partnership with Basketball Belgium: the national federation. The following years they will support the Belgian Lions, Belgian Cats and both U20 teams. During the press conference the coach of the Belgian Cats, Philip Mestdagh, announced the squad that would participate in the FIBA Women’s Eurobasket 2019 in Serbia & Latvia.

This Women’s European Championship was a great opportunity to let the Belgian world of basketball know that Crelan became the Belgian Cats’ number one fan.

In the run-up to the tournament, WAVE created several concepts and lots of content to present the Belgian Cats to sports fans all over the country. We interviewed every Belgian Cat, followed them around for a day, created over 100 individual GIF’s and we even got the Borlée family to record a support message.

The results after 3 weeks: 550.000 basketball fans saw one of our videos. They appeared 1.700.000 times in people’s newsfeeds on Facebook and Instagram. The videos were liked, shared and commented on over 11.500 times. And to top it all off, the Belgian Cats qualified for the World Olympic Qualifying Tournament!
