The image of athletes kneeling at the start of a match is no longer a surprise to us. It shows the impact that the modern athlete has on society. Think Colin Kaepernick or Lebron James.
More than just athletes, they are seen as human beings with their passions, habits, fans, families, friends and business stakeholders. They are evolving into personal brands.
The boom in athlete-generated content has blurred the edges of the industry. Through streaming technology and social media, the most marketable athletes find themselves in a unique position. The digital age brings them closer to their fans, gives them a stronger voice and provides sponsors with new ways to leverage their status.
But how do you develop a good personal brand as an athlete? And which brands fit that personality? To find out, WAVE Agency, together with Vlerick Business School, developed a tool that is based on the athlete’s personality traits and links them to brand values, which in turn can be linked to brand archetypes.
Through an online Cognitive Style Indicator test our partners at Vlerick Business School analyze your personality profile. A second online test assesses his or her personal values and assets. After a live interview (or depending on the sanitary situation a video call) the outcome of these tests will form the unique personal branding passport of an athlete, ready to match the right brand and to be able to tell a consistent story
